A Tanid, a turtle-like metahuman type that has not expressed itself in the Sixth World, Mauren is the Caretaker of the Dragon Enclave, a self-contained astral space housing the astral forms of dragons and draconic memory stones awaiting their awakening. She took full control of the enclave following the defeat of the Frog Sorcerer by the runners in response to his attempt to prematurely merge the enclave into the material metaplane.

Jürgen "Vaternacht / Father Night" Nadel is an older decker and a long-time teacher with the People's University in Berkeley, where he mentored both Shiba and Mark Mays. A very conservative decker, he never approved of Shiba's shadowrunning and they had rarely spoken in the years leading up to their mutual reencounter with Mark Mays.

Mark "Mayhem" Mays was a fellow decking student with Shiba of Jürgen Nadel. Recruited into the Black Mercury project at Mitsuhama Computer Technologies researching psychic manipulation of the Matrix, he was ultimately transformed into a cyberzombie. Erisa died in 2043, when Shiba was fourteen, from a heart condition she was unable to receive treatment for in Berkeley. Her father, Eito Ishii, now married to Asako Ishii née Takeda, still works at Fuchi in San Fransisco and has had two additional children, Shiba's half-brother Norio Ishii and her half-sister Shiori Ishii.
